When football season is in full swing, it’s the perfect time to host a football party. However, before you go out buying pounds of dip and decorating your outdoor space, check out these tips for hosting the biggest and best football party this year.
Arrange Furniture Optimally
The most unexpected issues that arise at a football party include a lack of seating or a suboptimal seating arrangement that doesn’t provide a good view of the game for everybody. You can never really tell how many people will show up, but that does not mean you can’t plan to arrange your seats in a way that is optimal for viewing the game. An excellent way to start is by placing your television or screen at a higher angle than usual for people who may be standing in the back to see.
Next comes the arrangements of the seating itself. Large tables surrounded by chairs are always good as nobody can sit in front of each other and block the view. However, if you expect a larger than usual crowd that’s so large a table won’t be able to hold it, you can always spread out your chairs in rows. Spreading out your seating allows people to walk by easily as well as move their seat on the occasion that they cannot see enough. Make sure that you also have enough seating to account for extra people you might not have previously expected to show up.
Clean Your Grill
There is no doubt that grilling is almost expected at every football game party. One in four grill owners use their grill to make food for football parties. However, there’s a good chance that your grill has not seen any use for many months, probably since last football season. Therefore, it is imperative that you first take some time to clean your grill before placing any food on it.
An unkempt grill cannot only be a breeding ground for nasty food viruses, but it can also be a fire hazard as old charcoal and other flammable materials could still be present. You really don’t need anything fancy to get the job done. All you need is some wire, bottle-style brushes, a couple of gallons of water, and some elbow grease. Not only are you protecting your home from a potential fire, but you’re now ready to serve some delicious burgers and hotdogs to your friends.
Have Backups Ready
Much like any good football team, you should also have a couple of backups ready just in case something goes wrong. Outdoor football parties tend to get a little wet from bottle spills or light rain. You may run into the unfortunate event of your television turning off in the middle of a big play. Nothing is worse than suddenly losing the signal during a huge football game. Therefore, have a radio on hand to catch the play-by-play and an additional television that’s ready to be plugged in.
Football game parties should be fun and exciting experiences. Don’t let these minor challenges ruin the excitement. Simply follow the list above to prepare for a successful football party.
